3-Pin Tri-Spanner Counterhold Tool for all 2015-2016 TDI Engines

$98.00

3-pin counterhold tool for the camshaft and high pressure fuel pump sprockets required when replacing the timing belt on the 2015-2016 Golf, Jetta, Beetle, Passat and Audi A3 w/ TDI engine.

  • Designed in house by folks who've actually done the job
  • Access the HPFP sprocket inside the accessory belt pocket with ease
  • Money saving 2-in-1 design; use 1 tool for both HPFP and Cam sprockets
  • Superior access facilitated by multiple engagement angles
  • Milled relief for the T30 cam key bolt saves time and allows full pin engagement
  • Manufactured in the USA from hardened chromoly steel
  • Use with your adjustable wrench w/ 1-1/2" jaw (12" or larger)
  • Suitable for servicing the cam hub of 2004-2014 TDI engines (not part of normal service on those model years)

Not the same as the one in the video

Tool is well made but it does not have the side ear that a 1/2” breaker bar can attach to like the tool in the video. 1.58” crescent wrench will work but I would have preferred the breaker bar ear. I may weld one on mine. Nevertheless, I love Dieselgeek!

Hi Steve, thanks for your thoughts. The tab on the old style tool in the video imposes tremendous restriction on access and flops around on a breaker bar or rolls around on a ratchet. The tri-spanner provide better access and ergonomics. And the milled relief means you only need to loosen the T30 sprocket to hub bolt rather than remove it entirely to have full pin contact.

Quality at it finest

After making a home brew tool out of my 2.0TSI counter hold, I thought it was time to add another tool to the box. I could not be happier with the fit and finish of this tool. It worked perfect and feels like I will get years of service out of it. If you are looking at this tool and have done this job or are just gearing up to do the job, just add it to the cart! I highly recommend the metal nerd crank lock as well. I won't do another PD or CR TDI without these 2 tools!

Thanks Andrew!
