The Missing Link for MK7 and MK8 (MQB) Cars!

We really love the MK7 and new MK8 Golfs and Jettas but the shifter has a couple of places where loose tolerances lead to less than stellar shifting. The result is that the shifter performance of the newest cars doesn't match the excellence of the rest of the package. Bring your shifter up to the level of the suspension, chassis and refinement with the Dieselgeek MQB Super Pin! Our billet stainless steel Super Pin is made in the USA and replaces the cheap plastic shifter pivot pin and really tightens up the shifting experience!

Install: You will need to remove the center console on your car to install this part. This is the most tedious part of the install process. We have a video below. It's really not all that difficult.

What it Fits: The Mk7 Super Pin fits all 2015 and newer US-spec and Canadian-spec MK7, MK7.5, and MK8 Golf R, GTI, TDI, Alltrack, plus the 2019 and newer Jetta GLI MK7. This part works with five or six speed transmissions. These cars are based on VW MQB architecture and have a black plastic shift box. For the rest of the world this also includes:

Perfects the stock shifter experience

This is definitely a must have mod for your shift assembly. It absolutely fixes what it's meant to and does it damn good job at it. Shifting feels so direct and concise, but flows like butter. This really wakes up the Sigma series short shifters and really compliments them and let's them shine in their purpose. The installation was done myself and it took about an hour getting the center console apart, but it really was not bad whatsoever. Now that I've done it once, I could probably get it done again in half the time easily. It seems intimidating, but it's not really that bad. I think the benefits to the feel and driveability of the shifter heavily outweigh the center console removal. Shops will charge you a ton to do this, I'd highly recommend grabbing a buddy and knocking it out yourselves. YouTube videos definitely expedited the process. 10/10 product and 10/10 manufacturer

Excellent! Expensive install but just wow!

2016 MK7. Have had the sigma six installed since 500 miles. Some side to side slop that was annoying. Now at 45k miles I had the super pin and shifter bushings installed. Love the direct, clicky shifts with my elbow resting comfortably. DieselGeek has the MK7 shifting issues figured out! Thank you.

Thanks Rohit. The Super Pin Sigma combo is really where it's at!

Just do it

I installed the short shifter along with the super pin on a mk7 gti with 40k miles by myself. It took a really long time to take everything apart and you really need two people. But once the center console was out, the plastic pin popped out and I put the metal one in with a few taps from a hammer. It feels amazing now and it is totally worth it along with the short shifter. If you are handy, I think you can do it without taking the car to the shop to avoid several hundred dollars in labor but you just need a lot of time. I also cut the shifter assembly with a dremel and used a zip tie to make it even less sloppy. Overall, I am really impressed with the product.

Kinda disappointed

After reading all the good reviews and seeing people on youtube say how great this thing is I'm trying to figure out why? The install is not hard and the fit was snug like it should be but after putting it all back together I really didn't feel any difference.

I did not do the zip tie mod because I didn't want to cut into my shifter. And there zero play in the ball of my shifter.
Maybe the zip tie would have changed something but that still means the pin did nothing.
If I had to spend $40 and 2 hours to do this again I wouldn't do it.

Hi Nick, thanks for the candid review. When I designed the Super Pin I knew that half of the slop was in the ball socket union off to the left of the shifter stick and half of the slop was in the pivot pin which the Super Pin replaces. Each point of slop is significant and while I completely understand not wanting to cut a stock part (the plastic bell crank), I hafta say that your results are very predictable. Both mods really need to be done to get the full benefit of the Super Pin.
