better than OEM tool

Have been using these tools professionally for a decade. Just came to order another as after HUNDREDS of uses I've misplaced one. At our shop we prefer this tool to the factory one as it installs more concisely and clearly with no room for error. Have used this and the other engine versions for literally thousands of jobs.

Not a crank hold down lock tool as title suggests.

This is a crank allignment tool to find TDC. Body is made of alluminum and not meant to be a crank hold down tool to torque center crank bolt (vw part # 3415). Remove "holding" descriptor, and add vag part # t10050 for clarity! Now I'm out $$39 + tax and shipping!

Hi Richard -

I'm sorry you were confused about the function of the MNCRPD crank lock. Respectfully, the holding fixtures for securing the cam, crank, and fuel pump at TDC are referred to as 'locks' while tools designed for torque on these components are referred to as 'counter-holds'...at least with everyone I've come in contact with in the 16 or so years I spent working on VWs. Anyway, it sounds like you found what you need to service that M16 center bolt. Provided the crank lock is in as-new condition you're welcome to return it to us. We'll waive the restocking fee as a gesture of goodwill.
