Metalnerd Common Rail Tool Kit
Metalnerd timing belt tool kit which includes all of the necessary specialty tools to set proper TDI injection timing and cam timing on the Common Rail engine in 2009-2014 Golf and Jetta TDI, 2013-2014 Beetle TDI, 2010-2014 Audi A3 TDI, and 2012-2014 Passat TDI. This tool kit can also be used universally on all 2004-2014 TDI engines for the North American market. This tool kit works on all TDI from 2004 onwards and has every tool needed to complete a timing belt change on the earlier 2004-2006 BEW, BHW and BRM engines in the Golf, Jetta, B5.5 Passat, and New Beetle.
1. The two red handle "L" pins are used to lock the cam shaft and the high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) to Top Dead Center (TDC) for cylinder number 1.
2. The purple colored tool is used to hold crankshaft firmly at Top Dead Center (TDC).
3. The long grey tool is the cam sprocket holding tool. The two pins stick into machined holes in the cam sprocket and allow you to precisely adjust cam timing.
4. The smaller plain metal angle "L" pin is to hold the serpentine belt tensioner in the open position (de-tensioned) to make it easy to remove and replace the serpentine belt.
In addition to this kit you may wish to purchase the Metalnerd tensioner wrench <LINK>. While not absolutely necessary, using the proper tensioner wrench saves time and eliminates the risk of stripping the soft 6mm Allen wrench lands of the tensioner hub.
